There are a few games that don't get good reviews, but I like them anyway. I will talk about a few here.
The short version is that I think this is a dumb-fun game. I think it's fine for what it is. The voice samples are decent (at least compared to Thunder Force III and IV, I don't know what they were saying there), the graphics are fine, and it controls alright.
I simply find it extremely impressive that they were able to get actual polygons working at a *decent* rate on the Genesis without any additional hardware. I don't care that much for how it controls, but it's still impressive. There is no music while you drive.
I have nostalgia for this game. I found it in a Goodwill in the CD section during summer break. It was right before we were about to go on a trip to visit our family. I always love these trips and the drive. I think the timing of when I bought it is why I like it. Whenever I play it, I feel like I am about to go on the trip. I try not to play it often so I don't wear out the feeling. I usually try to play it before we go on the trip, though. It controls a bit off, but it's fine. You just go around stages collecting baby chickens. The plot is crazy. Actually, now that I am thinking about it, there is voice acting in this game. I don't think it's half bad in my opinion (but I don't think I can tell good voice acting from bad voice acting unless it's painfully obvious). I don't see it much, but it's definitely not expensive. It's a short game. I can beat it in about an hour and a half, maybe 1 hour and 45 minutes. I don't remember how many stages there are; I think something like 15 maybe. It's cheap, and I think if you like 3D platformers and you are tolerant to bad games in general, it's worth the money I think. You will have to judge this for yourself, though. It's probably my nostalgia that is making me like it. If I didn't have that, I would probably call it not good but not completely terrible.
I was binge watching Scott the Woz on YouTube recently and he was talking about Wii Play. I bought it at a thrift store, and it's not that bad. I was a bit disappointed in the controls for Billiards, but maybe it was just my setup.
I had fun with this one. No, it doesn't control the best, but I think it's cheap enough to at least enjoy it.
Go see my "Other SHMUPS I Like" page as well as the page that is dedicated just to XDR that I surprisingly named "XDR".
I can't believe I did not put this game on here when I first created this page! I remember buying it and then reading that people really hated this game. I don't think it is that bad. The most annoying thing about it is the random movement during (at least the) first boss fight. The rest of the gameplay is nothing special, but it functions. The music is probably fine; I can't remember much of it right now. I remember people complaining about the graphics. They are kind of plain, yes, but they are not bad. I don't know why people hate this game. I can see them not liking it, but why do they hate it? This one has cool label art as well. I like it, anyway.
